It's a new day!!!

In my last bit of scripture I failed to mention a few things about NYC.

1. Chelsea Piers. If you are a parent and you care about kids how could you not love this place. It is awesome. I have hit more golf balls, thrown more bowling balls, climbed more rocks, drank more micro brewed beer, skated on more ice and obviously enjoyed the view of beautiful NJ coast. FUN.

2. 23rd Street. For my money, this is the best street in NYC. You can't beat the 23rd Street theatres for a flick and hit the Pier. The character of 23 rd Street is unmatched. One of the best little places to experience is the great establishment called Live Bait. Don't miss it. Oh and yes, there is an Outback, I just had an Outback dinner with the love of my life. If we get married and I certainly plan on on getting married at some point in my life, we will have a party there. It won't be the engagement party but we will stop in for a bite.

3. Houstons. Ever since they shut down the Park Ave CC, this place is booming. Great, I mean great food!! I love it. 28th and Park. Actually this place will be a great place for a wedding get together.

4. The Port Authority. Suprisingly good place to hang, don't ask me why but it is.

5. Bronx Zoo. Don't miss it.

Heading out.

My life in NYC - Reflections

After all these years of spending my time in NYC I have spent a lot of time reflecting. I have the following to say:

1. I miss Moran's. This World Financial Center Piece of Work shaped and symbolized many wall street types and wannabees over the years. It symbolized what we were all about in the late 1980's and early 1990's. It was a place where you could be a billionaire, zillionaire or zero-naire and it didn't matter. We all had fun and it showed. Sad they took the insurance dough though. The new place looks like a cafeteria. At least some other new places have taken over like SWNY. Stll not the same.

2. In general, the WTC. I don't want to rehash what I lived and everyone else in the area lived on 9/11. This situatation is so personal to me and friends. We safely and lucidly move on, it will always be part of my life. A deep part of my life. A deep part of all of our lives.

3. Robert Chambers. It may be looked upon as kind of strange, but I want to speak about Chambers. It intrigues me that he has run into the troubles he has over the last 20 years. People make their choices, and he has certainly made his. He has and will pay his price, probably for the rest of his life. He will not see the light of day again. I am not condoning the murder he has committed or the drug problems he has endured. I just feel that I, personally, may have fallen into the same traps he did. I'm not exactly sure where he is from, but I know where I'm from. It can be tough to live up to certain standards, also, addictions are tough to overcome. It is a shame that his life has amounted to so little at this point, so much wasted talent, So much potential lost. Maybe it is tabloid facination, maybe it is a story of a real guy who has just gone the wrong way. We'll see.

4. Hogs and Heffers. This NYC gem represents the world of the lower west side. Great place, tough area, cool people.

5. Grammercy Park - could be the nicest neighborhood in NYC and all of the world. How does someone afford to pay 18K per month in rent? Who knows, but a great area!!! Special times.

6. GMJC will be back!!!

7. Hot spots - The Bar Bat, Webster Hall, McMenimins, McFaddens and the Oyster Bar.

8. Central Park Zoo. Speakes for itself.

I'll be back.

Okay - Lets Move On!

Bottom Line with Joe Torre. He screwed up, The Yanks screwed up. Torre was so arrogant to walk away from a potential $16MM in dough and the Steinbrenner's were so arrogant to think he wasn't the man for the job. The Steinbrenner's win this battle. Joe is an employee and will always be an employee. A rich peasant. The Steinbrenner's own the land and will always rule the roost. Joe was a lovable loser before 1995. Now he is a wealthy peasant who will limp into the Hallowed Hall with the likes of softees like Piazza. The only thing that stinks a bit is that the odor from the Steinbrenner estate is a concern to me. It reeks of an unhappy work environment. I'm sensing a drought for the next 5-7 years, but that is okay. It's their dough not mine. We need to make examples of dillusional people like Torre who is basically a hump.

We still need to get rid of Jeter, steal Pappelbon, give Posada the mother load and resign Fred Stanley (just kidding on that one).

The next manager should be Tony Pena ( Girardi is a douche and Mattingly is basically uneducated and illiterate). I would also take a chance on Joel Skinner. Anyone who could fuck up a situation like he did with Loften rounding third the other night (not sending him home) can only get better, learn and focus.

This chapter ends for now.

I want To Thank My Baseball Buddies

I just want to give a shout out to my buds that have enjoyed baseball with me over the years (the names have been changed to protect the innocent!!!):

1. The Boy. This "Wonder Kid" and I actually took a vacation together where we went to 7 straight Newark Bear games, and sprinkled in one Yanks game. It was pure joy. We actually had the pleasure of watching and videotaping Ricky Henderson getting K'd by a 10th grader. This kid loves the Yanks and that is pure joy for a Dad. He can like any other team in sports that I dont like such as the Rangers, Knicks, etc. but the fact he loves the Yanks - it is pure Gold. Special kid with special talent. He is premiering in the Sound of Music at his prep school from 11/1 to 11/4. He plays Frederick the oldest son. I'm sure he will hit a Home Run!

2. Rodes - this fantastic guy introduced the Wonder Boy to one of his first Yanks game, on Father's Day!! We always try to continue the tradition. Rodes is a solid Baseball man and great friend. I'll never forget our trip to Chi-Town and Milwakee. We need to do another one. Thanks Pal. Rodes always remember, you're a great guy, not a good guy!!

3. Monique. Just some beautiful girl I had a fling with and went to a game with. She was possibly the hottest girl I have ever been with. I still think of her on a daily basis.

4. Weltz'y. This kid knows the facts better than me. Although he is a true Piazza fan, I don't hold it against him. He's a good friend and he should come on the next road trip with me and Rodes.

5. The Chief. This established author is one of the good guys. Just don't try to take him to a gogo bar late at night, and get lost in the process. Then you'll get his mean side. I just tried. Anyway, The Chief is the man. Cool Dude.

6. Vancouver Girl. Her name escapes me, but she introduced me to the Cubs. She was a total sexy freak, she was pretty amazing. The second time I was going to a Cubbies game, I just remembered her name - Janet (same weekend), I jumped a bus from the Sheraton at the Airport to Wrigley., Janet had to work a show. There were a bunch of drunkin' Irish guys on the bus and there was a ton of traffic. We were about 2 miles from Wrigley and it was about 100 degrees. I challenged the drunk bastards, told them I would get off the bus and run to Wrigley and beat the bus. If I did they would have to buy me a beer at the Bleachers. We'll I won and those Irish houligans stiffed me!! Never showed up at the bar. Bums!!! Danny Kaye is the best tix scalper in sports, see you at Murph's. Me and Rodes also met a dude who was cool and told us a story abut his ex, pretty funny. I was a little threatened, he may have been better looking than me - ooooppppps!

Janet was obviously impressd with me, two weeks later she flew me to so South beach for the week, all expenses paid, we played ping pong in the rain outside, it was fun. She was bi as well. TY god.

7. My Dad. Thanks Dad for getting me into Bball, especially when you never really liked the sport. You were a great Dad and a true gentleman. The Wonder Boy idolizes you for the great example you set, we're pretty lucky guys!

Anyway, enough for now.

It's Over

Thank you Joe Torre for everything you have given to the NY Yanks. You have personally given me and, most importantly, my family a tremendous amount of pleasure over the last 12 years. My son was born in 1995 and as a proud NYY fan, he has been blessed with the post season every year of his life. We even have "ghost tickets" from the 1995 World Series. I thank you and wish you the best. As you and I are biz partners with Cohn, I will see you soon.

Some memories:

1. Chad Curtis. That bastard spark plug was interesting. He didn't have an agent and negotiated all of his own contracts. After reviewing his salary history, I'm struggling to see how he could have even paid an agent. Anyway, Chad was a great Yank. I specifically remember walking the streets of Hoboken NJ in 1996 and thanking God for Chad's existence. This sticks out for me.

2. Andy Pettite. Once a Yank, always a Yank. But I don't like that scumbag ingrat friend of his - Roger Clemens. Dirt Bag.

3. Rajor Clemns - Dirt Bag by association. White trash, I wish - - - - - n his wife. Scum bag.

4. Jim Leyritz - GAY FREAK.

5. The Gator - He signed an f'ing LA Raiders hat for me once. What a weird guy. He's gay too.

6. Jim Abbott - bad deal on the paw.

7. Mel Hall - I once idolized you, no please prove your not scum.

8. Roger Clemens/Wade Boggs. I can't blame them for both being white trash, afterall, we bought them. Pathetic comodities. Clemens should get over the fact his father was inadequate. Boggs should jerk off to that bitch in his mind everyday. She was hot actually. I hate that freak Boggs. He's an even gayer than Rusty Staub.

9. Don Mattingly - I struggle with him, It's for a different blog. I'm so sad and disappointed about him. I tried at a recent charity event. He has too much hay in his ears.

10. Bob Costas. Legend.

11. Dwayne "the pearl" Washington. Legend.

12. Charley Hayes, Scott Brosis, Jeff Nelson, John Wetteland, Luis Sojo, and yes Mendosa, thanks for everything.

13. Luis Pologna - bologna, see you at Stans.

14. Jeter - has to go, scum bag.

15. Arod - you have to 2 go too, dick face.

16. Dave La Point and Andy Hawkins. I love you both for one reason. Your both handsome and mediocre, just like me. But you got paid for it!

I'll be back.

JK
I was a little awestruck having a blog for the 1st time. I'm retired and a little bored. I believe in George. althought Hank looks like a good guy, he smokes too much, not a good sign. Go Joba.

Thanks for the memories

Joe Torre - thank you for everything. You're gone, goodbye. Kiss the ground George walks on please.

Arod - I'd keep you, no biggy. If you're here great, if not so be it.

Derek - you're treading on thin ice. You demoralized Arod when it wasn't neccessary and you now look sily with your weak stats. The end is near. I would trade you for some pitching. Kiss George's dust. It's almost over.

Jorge - you deserve it, whatever you want, you get. You're son inspires me! I thought the Allstar thing was great.

Mo - see Derek.

Kevin Brown and Carl Pavano deserve a special little place in hell.
